SPV Special Projects have recently completed the cladding works at Croft Preparatory School, Stratford upon Avon. Working directly for the school, our remit was to replace the roofs to the language block and the English block.
The existing roofs were asbestos profile sheets which had aged and were in a poor condition.
A licensed asbestos contractor removed the asbestos profile sheeting to both blocks and air monitoring was undertaken.
We then supplied and installed a twin skin built up system with a tile effect outer profile sheet.
Firstly, a scaffold working platform was erected with handrail to provide edge protection and Youngman boards/Easi-decs were used for access over the open roof areas.
New white profile internal liner sheets were fixed to the existing purlins fixed with self-drilling tek screws then support bar brackets were fixed through the new liner sheeting and into the purlins with tek screws.
We then installed a support bar system fixed to the brackets and laid in a grid over the roof area followed by 260mm glass fibre quilt between support bars followed by the
Clad co tile effect sheets including all flashings and finishes.
The existing guttering to the English block was removed and replaced with a new galvanised preformed system including outlets and downpipes along with the guttering to the language block using in new black PVC half round guttering.
The blocks were not only upgraded but the finish was very aesthetically pleasing.
The works were completed during the first 2 weeks of the school summer holidays but there were still some students on site given that the school is a boarding school but no disruption was caused at any time.
All works were completed within agreed budgets and within agreed time scales.
