Howard Evans Roofing and Cladding have recently completed the over cladding works at Go Outdoors Gloucester
The store hosted a Grand Opening Event upon completion of the refurbishment works to celebrate with Gloucester’s Mayor, Councillor Lorraine Campbell present to cut the ribbon.
The expansive 49,600+ft store offers services such as boot and rucksack fitting, bike servicing, and golf club fitting
SPV Special projects remit was an overclad replacement system to the existing roof.
The existing roof structure consisted of a structural steel I-beam frame, with cold-rolled steel purlins, twin-skin metal system consisting of non-fragile liner sheet, bracket & bar secondary framework, quilt insulation and outer profiled metal roof sheet.
The defects seen on the roof, gutters and parapet were of a significant nature and our recommendation was large-scale refurbishment to maintain longevity of the roof as a whole. We also recommended that the parapet capping wass replaced, along with completing a gutter lining scheme and refreshing the inside face of the parapet wall. This together will prevent water ingress through these details.
Key points
- Leak Resolution: The store had significant leaks before the project, which were completely resolved following completion of the works.
- Logistics :Materials & waste were hoisted to & from roof level using the SPV HIAB crane lorry.
- Minimal Disruption: The work was done whilst a fit out was completed below the works. Works to complete to the purlins was carefully coordinated with the fit out team to ensure safety and protection.
- Extra works Extra outlets to the valley gutters were installed to ensure efficient flow of water from the roof. We also ran pipes internally through the store as requested to ensure efficient flow of water in heavy rain conditions.
- Positive Feedback: Iceland’s senior construction management were very pleased with the outcome of the project and the efficiency and quality of the works.
- Efficiency: The project was completed within budget and as per the agreed time scales despite the team facing challenges with adverse weather throughout the project including snow and ice.
All works were completed within agreed time scales and budgets and works are covered by a materials and workmanship Warranty.
