SPV Special Projects have recently completed roofing works at the Lower
Precinct Shopping Centre in Coventry.
Working on behalf of our Client Jones Lang Lasalle, we carried out the roofing refurbishment works to Roof 10 of the Shopping Centre, one of Coventry’s
leading shopping destinations, accounting for over 25% of the city centre’s retail stores.
Welcoming around 200,000 shoppers each week, the Lower Precinct is home to brands including H&M, New Look, River Island, Clarks, Café Nero and
many more.
Access was gained internally and via scaffold towers and working platforms. All material was delivered to the site as required due to limited storage and the materials were craned to the roof using our Hiab lorry.
Our task was to carefully remove the overlay, then supply and lay a new high-performance roofing felt specification, including all relevant detail work.
Any areas deemed a risk under the safe-to-torch guidelines were completed using a self-adhesive felt or a cold-applied liquid coating to complete the
weatherproofing.
Upon completing the waterproofing works, we created a designed walkway for all M&E and plant on the roof and laid high-performance roofing felt
to the access steps.
Two apprentices were on-site throughout the project and gained invaluable knowledge of a large-scale refurbishment project.
The works undertaken are protected by a 20-year material and workmanship warranty.
All works were completed within agreed budgets as agreed timescales ensuring constant liaison with the shopping centre to ensure minimal disruption to the Shopping centre throughout the project.
