SPV Special Projects have recently completed the roofing works to Building One at the Whitbread head office in Luton.
The project was procured for Whitbread, which operates Premier Inn & Restaurants UK via their onsite maintenance company BMSL.
Premier Inn is the UK’s biggest hotel brand, offering quality accommodation at affordable prices, with more than 800 hotels in great locations across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The works involved the supply and laying of new insulation, followed by two layers of highperformance roofing felt.
The existing roof had been leaking for some time and was causing issues to the day-to-day functionality of the building, where many of its employees are based.
The project was particularly challenging due to the preparation involved, with 100 tonnes of slabs and stones needing to be removed from the 800m roof, as well as the redundant ducting on the roof.
We had an apprentice on site who gained insightful experience in the undertaking of a large-scale flat roofing project.
The client was very pleased with the project, commenting that the work was completed in a very professional and efficient manner and that the communication with the site team was excellent throughout.
Despite a challenging timescale for the project, all works were completed within agreed time scales and to the agreed budgets.
