Howard Evans Roofing have recently completed the overcladding works to the former Lidl store and now Food warehouse store in Queensferry
The Food Warehouse, launched by Iceland in 2014, offers a larger store format with bulk-buy options and an extended range of frozen, chilled, and grocery products. Stores typically span 10,000 to 15,000 square feet and are commonly located in retail parks.
The roof was in poor condition, with extensive corrosion and deterioration of its plastisol coating.
Flashings, fixings, and previous repair attempts indicate ongoing water ingress issues.
Missing components such as closure and eaves flashings further contribute to the building’s vulnerabilities.
To rectify these issues, Howard Evans Roofing completed the recent over cladding works for Iceland frozen Foods through the Main contractor Oakhurst who completed a full internal fit out the store below.
The project included:
- Installing additional purlins and securing them with the necessary fittings.
- Setting up scaffolding and edge protection for safe access.
- Repairing roof penetrations with plastisol sheets and ensuring structural support.
- Adding new plastosil coated sheeting for durability.
- Installing new flashing, cappings and trim liner gutter system
Additionally, a new canopy was constructed, including:
- Installing steelwork and Corrapol storm guard sheets.
- Adding black UPVC guttering and protective bollards
The works were carried out in compliance with all necessary safety regulations, agreed budgets and agreed time scales.
The project was also covered by a 20 year Insurance Backed Guarantee
Project duration – 8 weeks
